Poet

"A lot of people see that I'm a rapper/ And automatically think of disaster/ Automatically think that I'm after/ Nothing but sinking to the melting pot of America/ To be like everybody else that envelop me/ And then lose track of my own identity/ But I'm a Muslim, just like everybody in front of me/ I don't know what I've become, or what the world has done to me/ But I'm gonna be/ everything America doesn't want me to be/ Because I got poetry growin' in me, and it won't leave me/ See that's why I'm rappin,' not for the fashion, but passion/ Not for the cash but for action/ What's a million dollars in this world/ Compared to usin' words and the power to be heard/ To be respected for your art and what's ejected from your heart/ I don't want to conform, I want to reform, and use this as a tool/ To break the misconception of me and you/ As me and you sit here in Ramadan/ There's people out there that equate us with the Taliban/ Like we're Osama or Saddam/ We say salaam, they think we're communicatin' to drop a bomb/ We make duah, they think we're tryin' to send some harm/ But I got photon bombs in each of my forearms waitin' to prove 'em wrong/ Because Islam is a religion of peace/ And peace be onto he who brought this religion to me/ To get me to uplift mentally, physically, and spiritually/ And to say Inshallah before everything I ever dream/ Because people are out there starvin' and dyin'/ In this month of fasting, we need to start realizin/ What we actually have, to stand tall, before you walk you got to crawl/ And never fall to the grip of alcohol/ Society is like one big headache, but we don't got the Tylenol/ With Islam, you feel like you can walk on walls/ But I'm not tryin' to preach ya/ I'm not tryin' to reach ya/ As a speaker, as a teacher, but as a believer/ askin you how the development of a fetus/ is writtin in the Quran by an illiterate man 1400 years ago in Medina/ With no microscope he wrote, his message got spread to the world and divided like amoebas/ But in these classes, look at what they teach us/ They tell us our relgion is a fake/ Tyrin' to disintegrate our faith/ by sayin' we came from a ape/ With no sign or a trace between a human and a ape as if it just magically got erased/ But tryin' to disprove Islam is nothing but a waste/ Because look at us, we're all just one race/ Islam says we're all brothers, regradless of color/ Whether you're white, black, Pakistani, Benghali, or other/ Cause we all came from the same father and mother/ Adam and Eve, why can't we see/ The strength of a human being and what he can be/ To look in these eyes, and see what they see/ Sometimes I feel like a slave, that'll never be free/ But no matter what I achieve, or what peak that I reach/ I must get on my knees/ and ask Allah... for the power to make me bolder/ colder/ so that I may hold this weight on my shoulders/ because I know the/ truth... There is only One God... ALLAH, and Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, is his final messenger."
